About me
I’ve spent most of my career trying to answer a fairly simple question: how can I help people do important work in ways that are both impactful and sustainable over time?
My early work as an organizer shaped a lot of how I think about leadership and organizational change. It taught me that because this work is never really finished, organizations need healthy systems, shared ownership, financial sustainability, and supportive ways of working together that sustain people over time.
That perspective led me to intentionally work across many of the functions that shape organizations from the inside, including programs, fundraising, management, strategy, evaluation, governance, and leadership. I was also drawn to new roles, new programs, and exploring new ways of understanding my impact. After more than 20 years leading inside organizations, consulting gave me the opportunity to step back and see broader patterns across leadership, systems, culture, funding, and organizational sustainability.
Today, I focus on helping organizations navigate one of the most important and under-supported realities in mission-driven work: navigating change. Change is a normal and healthy part of how organizations evolve to better meet an always changing world, yet it’s typically approached reluctantly. I help organizations seize on the opportunities that change provide to learn, grow, and improve.
I’m collaborative, practical, and comfortable stepping into complexity without rushing to judgment. I work best alongside leaders and teams who care deeply about their mission and want to move through change thoughtfully while keeping people connected, supported, and moving in the same direction.
If your organization is navigating change, preparing for growth, or looking for thoughtful support and added capacity, I’d be glad to talk.Click here for more about my services.
Experience
I offer clients more than two decades of experience working inside mission-driven nonprofit organizations, along with several years supporting organizations as a consultant.
I’ve served in a range of roles, including multiple stints as an Executive Director (both interim and permanent), in national program leadership, fundraising, advocacy, and organizing. I’ve supported organizations with strategic planning, program design, staff development, fundraising, partnership-building, as well as reorgs and periods of other organizational change. Having been responsible for both direction-setting and day-to-day follow-through has given me a clear view of how to sort through distractions to focus on what matters most.
My work has also spanned fields including conservation, human rights, youth development, education, and social justice work. Working across sectors has shaped a needs-first approach, helping leaders assess how their mission fits within an evolving landscape and make strategic choices that respond to the most pressing needs of the communities they serve.
That perspective shapes how I work today: helping organizations clarify direction, strengthen leadership, and create conditions which improve both impact and staff morale.
